"Beauty has been added to beauty in the very moment in which the paintings of Carlo Perindani have made their appearance on the island of Capri", and now the ancient dwelling of the painter shines with new light.
This is how the painter's ancient home comes to life under a new light. Located in the upper part of the center of Capri, between the calcareous rock of the Sopramonte hill, 5 minutes walk from the center of the island. The project's guideline was the desire to preserve the character and the soul of the place, through small and precise interventions a completely new space was created, in the same porticoes of the ancient dwelling of the painter.
"From the Gouche House to Pompeii and Ravello..." Capri is also a virtual bridge lying between the Gulf of Naples and Salerno, ideal for giving life to unforgettable day trips: from Gouache House, in a few minutes, you arrive at the Port, from where hydrofoils to Sorrento are frequent (with Circumvesuviana, you can reach Pompeii, Herculaneum and Vesuvius) and for the Amalfi Coast and its pearls: Ravello, Positano and Amalfi.
The house measures approximately 80 square meters. It has a small portico with three arches, from where you access the apartment, which houses a Bignogna Capensin that produces orange flowers 8 months a year. The main door-window leads to the lounge-leaving-lunch area. It is an open space, starting from a kitchen equipped with almost imperceptible carpentry, in front of which a table and a long and low dresser are placed. From there, sitting for lunch or breakfast, the rest of the room and the large window-balcony overlooking Marina Piccola, from where you can also see the Faraglioni. In this open-space, beyond the two arches, small and large, which divide the room, there is a sofa. In this way, the 2 Customers can be accommodated, as well as 2 extra ones that can be placed in the living room with the sofa, in front of the large panoramic window, which can be darkened with a motorized sunbreaker with adjustable blades. The sofa is a one and a half (140 cm) Chateau d'Ax that opens with a simple gesture revealing the bed ready. There are no cushions to move because it incorporates them.
"Gouache House Sopramonte Capri" is located in the historic center of Capri, which can only be accessed by electric or walking carts. It is 3’ from the square and, therefore, from the Funicular that connects in 5 minutes with Marina Grande-Porto. It is 4' from the taxi parking and the bus terminal that connect with Marina Piccola (reachable on foot, with a wonderful walk' to go down 'of half an hour), with Anacapri (the other Municipality of the Island) and Marina Great.
Like many houses in Capri, to access the structure you have to climb the steps, in this case about sixty. The painter Perindani did it up to 86 years old... On the other hand, the walking path from the Piazzetta is really short and therefore you walk very little compared to all the other houses and especially those located towards Matermania or Monte Tiberio. The steps are low and well-marked and support the lifting of a good quality trolley. Alternatively, you can also book a porter service that collects your baggage upon arrival at the Port and delivers it to your door. But Capri is like this: staircases and streets...
The Villa is also equipped with vacuum, iron and ironing board.
There is the possibility to ask for a cradle and/or a high chair.
